Frequently Asked Questions

Wait… where did the CamPhoto window go?! It just vanished!

Don’t panic 😅 — everything’s fine. You probably switched CamPhoto into floating webcam feed mode (aka "menu bar mode"). In this mode, the main window disappears and CamPhoto runs from the top of your screen, right in your Mac’s menu bar.

Look for this little icon up there:

CamPhoto menu bar icon

Click it to access the floating webcam window or settings. It’s all still running—just more compact and out of your way!

How can I use CamPhoto on my iPhone?

CamPhoto is made for Mac and isn't available for iPhone. But good news—you can still use your iPhone as a camera with CamPhoto using Apple's Continuity Camera feature. Just connect your iPhone to your Mac, and select it as your camera inside the app!

Ok, but… what the h#$% is this Continuity Camera you keep talking about?

Fair question 😄 In short: it's a way to use your iPhone as a wireless webcam for your Mac. Seriously—no cables, no extra apps. Just bring your iPhone near your Mac, and it appears as a camera option right inside CamPhoto. It's a built-in Apple feature and it works like magic.

Still curious? Here's a video that shows how it works: How to use your iPhone as your webcam on your Mac!

CamPhoto Tip: That said, Continuity Camera also works with a cable—so if you're recording video with your latest ultra-fancy iPhone shooting at a zillion FPS, plug in a cable and thank us later! 😄

Where are my photos and videos stored after taking them with CamPhoto?

Photos and videos taken with CamPhoto can be saved to any folder you choose! By default, they are stored in your user's Pictures folder, under a subfolder named "CamPhoto," but you can select your preferred location in the app settings.

When will you add a timer, flash, background removal?

Very soon!
